Speaker: Gloria Gibbel

Gloria Gibbel is an Oregon native but has lived in California since 1958. She began teaching elementary school in 1967 and retired in 2009. Her love of history and genealogy was influenced by her grandmother. She started working on her family history with grandmother in the 1970s and began doing genealogy seriously in 1995.
In 2005, Gloria became a member of the National and State DAR Speakers Staff. That year she also received the National Outstanding Volunteer Genealogist Award. In addition, she has been being awarded the National Lineage Researcher award, the CSSDAR Outstanding Volunteer Genealogist twice, and was awarded Outstanding VIS (computer). Gloria is past Regent and Registrar of the Captain John Oldham Chapter, NSDAR, of Grass Valley/Nevada City, CA. She is Past Chairman of the Genealogy Preservation Project and in July assumed once again the chairmanship of the CSSDAR Volunteer Genealogist Committee planning a workshop for 200 in Southern California in May 2011. Gloria also served as Secretary of the Nevada County Genealogy Society and is a member of the Placer County Genealogy Society. She is currently an active volunteer genealogist
