Subject:"Deedmapper"
Deedmapper is the premier software program for analyzing old grants, deeds, surveys, and claims, particularly those described by metes and bounds. DeedMapper is being used by local historians, genealogists, and archaeologists to make land ownership maps of the past.
Speaker: Valerie Tice
Valerie Tice is the Historian & Archivist for the Pace Society of America, which is a group of genealogists who search Pace family lines. She has built and maintains for the Pace Society a large database of scanned and transcribed original records for use by Society members. She is also a former volunteer at her local Family History Center and has taught genealogy classes over the last decade. Her interest in genealogy began in 1981 when she accompanied her father to Texas and met his cousin Ruby Ethel. Ruby told Val that her great grandmother, Jane Pernina (Ing) Perkins, had been in a shipwreck in the Gulf of Mexico. The story intrigued her, and she began her research.
